✨REVERSE FRONT PLATFORM BOAT CRUNCH✨ Boat Cru ✨REVERSE FRONT PLATFORM BOAT CRUNCH✨

Boat Crunch is such a great exercise to mix into a core block for so many reasons. First, it allows core to continue to work while being off of shoulders, and tired shoulders can be a huge reason why most people struggle to stay in core work when in a plank position.

Second, it’s a great time to practice scooping and hollowing out the abs instead of bracing. Bracing definitely has a time and place to protect the back, but practicing pulling belly button to spine is how you can learn to protect the back AND better engage through the pelvic floor, creating a more supportive engagement. 

Last, but certainly not least, Boat Crunch is basically a better version of a sit up. Creating such challenging work for middle abs, while getting deeper into lower abs and pelvic floor with the added movement (and support) of the carriage.

This version of Boat Crunch at the front of the machine takes the traditional pulling of a Boat Crunch at the back of the machine and turns it into more of a pushing effort, creating a really fun variation for legs and an overall different feeling throughout the entirety of the abs.

✨SIDE LYING LEG PRESS✨ Side Lying Leg Press i ✨SIDE LYING LEG PRESS✨

Side Lying Leg Press is such a sneakily hard exercise that will have your legs shaking like a leaf! 🍂

Due to the side lying position, most people think this will a more comfortable position, but this is just as full body as anything else we do here at Tonic. In this position, make sure that hips and shoulder are stacked and parallel to the edge of the carriage to support the back and keep leg engaged. You’ll also want to engage non-working oblique, lifting it away from carriage as if you were making a little mouse hole under your oblique.

When moving through this exercise, make sure range of motion is proper for your body — lengthening through working side leg but stopping with a slight bend in knee to keep it from locking out and keep it protected, and stopping when knee is at a 90* angle in line with the hip, to keep tension in the muscle the entire time.

There are so many fun variations you can do on this exercise, on both working and non-working leg, to spice up this foundational effort! 🌶️
